French Immersion Programming

BRSD is proud to offer a quality French Immersion program open to all families. Families do not need to speak French to register their child for French Immersion. Students in French Immersion learn the same curriculum as their English counterparts; however, the curriculum is taught in French. Our teachers are here to help support you and your child during their learning journey.

BRSD offers both Early Entry French Immersion and Late Entry French Immersion. Students can enter our Early French Immersion program in Kindergarten or Grade One and can enter our Late French Immersion program in Grade 6.

Early Entry French Immersion

The Early Entry French Immersion Program provides students with the opportunity to acquire French language fluency by the end of Grade 12. Students enrolled in this program follow the same curricular objectives as English students in Alberta; however, the language of instruction is French.

Late Entry French Immersion

The Late Entry French Immersion Program provides students with the opportunity to become highly functional in French by the end of Grade 12. It is a program in which French is the language of instruction beginning in Grade 6 and continuing through Grade 12.
